Book Introduction: “The Autism Parents’ Club” by Ritu Kiran

A while back, I served on the co-production board of Aubilities, a company that developed an inclusion platform underpinned by neurodiversity, alongside a wonderful team of neurodistinct members. I was privileged to work on the team with Ritu Kiran, founder and CEO, and found it refreshing and uplifting to work with a neuro-affirming leader who greatly respected our diverse needs and preferences throughout the development of her platform.

Ritu is also the mother of an autistic son, and was recently diagnosed as autistic herself. I was therefore greatly pleased and honored when Ritu asked me to be one of the contributing authors in her book, “The Autism Parents’ Club- Simple strategies for managing common challenges.”  The book is a guide, presented in a simple question-and-answer format, to address many of the common challenges parents of autistic children face, including diagnosis, managing emotions, communication, sensory needs, education, relationships, and more.

The three questions I addressed are:

  • How do I help my child get the most out of school?
  • How do I overcome intentional or unintentional from my social circle and/or community?
  • How do I help my child deal with big events such as Christmas/Hannukkah/Diwali and others?

I invite you all to check out the book, and Jessica Kingsley Press is offering a limited discount on purchases by typing the following code in the order form.

I hope you will find it interesting and insightful!
