We Can’t Live and We Can’t Die*

Post #4 in category. We suggest reading posts in numerical order.

We are going to tell you something only parents can understand.  We came to you to get treatment for our son because our biggest fear is that we will die.  Then who will take care of him? His life, and our lives, have been so difficult. We are very tired.

We can’t live and we can’t die.

We tried to give him everything, but he had not been progressing like he should. He is so far behind. There is so much more he needs to learn. We always felt he could learn and progress, but he was blocked. There were so many obstacles. The experts told us to “face reality and accept the situation. Don’t expect too much, it will only lead to disappointment.”

You told us it was not too late, even though he is twelve years old. We came to you, and you proved to us that he has potential.

We were afraid to hope.

Before we came, we had seen so little change in such a long time. We are so thankful to you for helping us to help him. He is not the same boy. He is changing so much. He understands much more and is so much more confident. He feels himself growing and enjoys every day, and every night we sleep so much easier.

Now we know there is a way to reach him and for him to reach us. How can we repay you for teaching our child how to live and for helping us to sleep?
